Interviews taken during an investigation provide the proof behind your findings. They can provide solid backing for your claim, or undermine your report with a misheard word or an omitted detail. Each recording must be processed carefully so that the authority and legitimacy of the investigation are never in question.
At the same time, the work must be completed on a timely basis so results can be released without delay. Having hours of interviews to transcribe is a challenge for any team, especially one short on resources.
Focus Interpreting's professional transcribers and linguists are trained to listen attentively to recorded speech and convert it to text without missing the details that matter. We handle large volumes of recorded speech within tight timelines, without sacrificing quality.

We support public agencies, private firms, and legal teams that depend on a faithful written record. Common assignments include:

For investigative work we recommend true verbatim transcription. Every word is captured, including fillers, false starts, repetitions, and audible non-verbal cues such as laughter, long pauses, or a door closing. Inaudible or unintelligible passages are tagged with a timestamp rather than guessed, so the reader knows exactly where the recording is unclear.
Clean verbatim removes the fillers and stutters while keeping every substantive statement. It is easier to read and is often sufficient for internal summaries, HR files, or claims notes where the transcript will not be scrutinized as evidence.
If you are unsure which to choose, we will talk through how the transcript will be used and recommend a style. Both are delivered with speaker identification and timestamps at the interval you specify.

Evidence needs a paper trail. We log the receipt of each recording, restrict access to the transcriber and proofreader assigned to the case, and record every hand-off until the transcript is delivered. On request, we provide a signed certificate of transcription attesting that the transcript is a true and accurate rendering of the recording.
You can send files on CD, USB, or other media, or transfer them securely by email or Dropbox. Any information you send is kept private, and our linguists work under non-disclosure agreements to maintain the integrity of your investigation.
When an interview was conducted in another language, the same linguist can transcribe the source audio and produce a certified English translation, so the original words and their meaning are both preserved for the file.
How it works
Send recordings through a secure channel or on physical media. We log receipt and confirm scope, language, and deadline.
A trained transcriber produces the transcript in the requested style with speaker labels and timestamps.
A second linguist checks the transcript against the audio and flags any inaudible passages.
Transcripts are delivered in your required format, with a certificate of accuracy and chain-of-custody log on request.
