Options for clinics and health practitioners

Options for clinics and health practitioners

In the medical field, handwritten notes are a thing of the past. Digital documentation is the norm, driven by patient expectations and government standards. Yet transcribing thousands of notes and recorded consultations into digital records is not an easy task. Doing it in-house means dedicating staff and equipment, and that consumes budget, effort, and time better spent on patient care.

Your best option is to pass clinical documentation to a dependable transcription company. Focus Interpreting's professionals are trained in medical transcription and produce highly dependable results quickly, giving your practice, clinic, or hospital a convenient way to streamline documentation.

We have served the medical industry with interpreting, translation, and transcription since 2010, working with clinics, hospitals, occupational health providers, and insurers. We are a member of the International Medical Interpreters Association and every linguist on our team is HIPAA-trained.

What we transcribe for medical clients

What we transcribe for medical clients

Our medical transcribers study the terms and language used in clinical settings so the transcripts they deliver are accurate and ready for the chart. We routinely handle:

  • Physician dictation: history and physicals, progress notes, operative reports, discharge summaries
  • Independent medical examination (IME) and qualified medical evaluator reports
  • Workers' compensation evaluations, med-legal reports, and treating physician narratives
  • Recorded patient consultations, telehealth visits, and case conferences
  • Radiology, pathology, and specialty consult notes
  • Grand rounds, continuing education sessions, and pharmaceutical advisory meetings

IME reports and workers' compensation documentation

IME reports and workers' compensation documentation

Workers' compensation is one of our core specialties. Evaluating physicians, applicant and defense attorneys, claims administrators, and third-party administrators all depend on med-legal reports that are complete, correctly formatted, and delivered on time. Our transcribers understand the structure of IME and QME reports and produce clean, review-ready documents from your dictation.

When an examination involved a non-English-speaking patient, we can transcribe the recorded encounter in the source language and provide a certified English translation alongside the report, which is often needed when an interpreter was present during the evaluation.

Because Focus Interpreting also provides certified medical interpreters for examinations and hearings, you can arrange the interpreter, the transcript, and any translation through a single coordinator.

HIPAA compliance and confidentiality

HIPAA compliance and confidentiality

Protected health information stays protected. Recordings are transferred through secure channels, stored with access limited to the assigned transcriber and proofreader, and never used outside your project. All of our linguists are HIPAA-trained and bound by non-disclosure agreements, and we will execute a business associate agreement with your organization.

We accept dictation and recordings in MP3, WAV, M4A, DSS, MP4, and most other formats, by email, Dropbox or another secure link, or on CD or USB. Real-time call-in transcription can be arranged for practices that prefer to dictate by phone.

Transcripts are returned as Word or PDF, or in a template that matches your EHR or report format, with intelligent (edited) transcription as the default for dictation and verbatim available for recorded encounters and med-legal use.
