Your best option for media transcription

Your best option for media transcription

Radio, television, film, and digital productions generate a steady stream of material that needs to be transcribed. These transcripts are used for subtitling, captioning, edit decision lists, translations, and compliance, and they give audiences additional ways to follow what they are watching and hearing so your message gets across.

Transcription takes time and skill. Rather than tying up producers or assistants, hand it to a team that does it every day. Focus Interpreting's language experts provide transcription, translation, and interpreting for entertainment and media clients, including studios and networks based in Southern California.

Our turnaround options are designed around production calendars, so you do not miss the deadline for your programs.

What we transcribe

What we transcribe

Our transcribers are carefully screened for competence and reliability and then trained further in transcription conventions. They deliver fast, accurate speech-to-text conversion for:

  • Interviews, press junkets, and documentary footage
  • Videos, webinars, and corporate and marketing content
  • Podcasts and audio series
  • Music and lyric transcription
  • TV and radio programs, news segments, and as-broadcast scripts
  • Reality and unscripted footage with multiple speakers

Subtitles, captions, and localization

Subtitles, captions, and localization

A good subtitle or caption file starts with a clean, timecoded transcript. We deliver transcripts with timecodes at the interval you specify and can format them for common caption workflows, including SRT and VTT, so your editors can drop them straight into the timeline.

For foreign-language footage, our linguists transcribe in the source language and translate into English, or take your English transcript into any of 120+ languages for subtitling and dubbing scripts. Because transcription and translation are done by the same team, terminology and speaker attribution stay consistent across every version.

Accurate captions also help you meet accessibility requirements for viewers who are deaf or hard of hearing, and searchable transcripts extend the reach of your content online.

Sending files and keeping content secure

Sending files and keeping content secure

Send us MP3, WAV, M4A, MP4, MOV, AVI, WMV, or most other formats by email, Dropbox, or another secure link, or on CD, USB, or other digital media. For very large productions we can arrange a dedicated transfer. Real-time transcription can be arranged for certain live needs.

Pre-release content is handled with the same care as legal or medical material. Access is limited to the assigned transcriber and proofreader, both under non-disclosure agreements, and we will sign your studio's or network's confidentiality agreement.
